HOW DOES THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT PAY MY WAY?
❖ Universities provide a furnished apartment, paid utilities, and a salary for living in China
❖ Universities provide a travel stipend and several weeks off to travel within China or abroad
❖ Universities reimburse a round-trip airfare at the end of the ten-month teaching contract
WHAT IF I’M NOT A TEACHER BY PROFESSION?
❖ That’s OK! Most of those who have gone to teach are not professional teachers, and yet they’ve been successful in the classroom
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
❖ A bachelor’s degree or higher—in any field
❖ English should be my native language
❖ TEFL certificate
❖ Good health between 20 and 65 years of age
❖ Criminal background check
❖ An overseeing congregation willing to prayerfully support you while you are in China.
❖ Faithful Christian willing to take advantage of a year to go teach in China in this amazing opportunity to have an influence for Christ on the future teachers and leaders of that great nation
HOW WILL I SPEND MY TIME?
❖ Teach Conversational English or other selected subjects between 14-16 hours each week
❖ In my free time, I can have as many private discussions, in English, as I choose to schedule weekly.
HOW LONG OF A COMMITMENT WILL I BE MAKING?
❖ Ten months – one school year – terms begin in February and September
❖ Contracts are renewable; many have exercised this option for as long as 10 years
BUT I DON’T SPEAK CHINESE!
❖ You don’t have to.
❖ You will be teaching students who have already studied English for several years.
ARE THERE TEACHERS THERE NOW?
❖ Over 60 Christians from all areas of the US are currently working in Chinese schools
❖ Other teachers from our group will be in your city
❖ Workers range in age from age 20 to 65—single men & women, couples, & some families with children
❖ We have been working with Chinese universities since 1993
